Cordless Design Cutter Starter Kit

SLICE™ is the first cordless digital design cutter. The cutter is easy to use, cordless, portable, cuts photos, and exclusive designs. Creating die cuts and embellishments should surely be easier. The machine weighs less than 2 pounds, and measures a petite 5″. This super little machine is equipped with  a rechargeable batter, or you can plug it in to a standard wall outlet.

Note: This Slice machine is only compatible with power requirements that are the same as those in the United States and Canada. Consumers that purchase a Making Memories Slice machine and use different power will void their manufacturer warranty if anything should happen. Customers in Europe, Australia and South Africa should purchase the Slice machine from a local supplier that will have the correct power needs for the location. At this time these International Slice machines will be distributed only through the local distributors and retailers.

The Making Memories Slice Kit includes:

We highly recommend and encourage the full reading of the instructions before using any tool.  This often saves time in the long run, and can keep you from harming yourself and/or the machine.

The rechargeable batteries will need a thorough charge to get started with.  The battery use life is generous, but you’ll need to remember to set it back in the charger.  Unfortunately, there is no indicator light to tell you when your machine is charging–a minor flaw–but if you place it in the charger frequently, you should have little or not problem.  You can leave it in the charge for hours, but we would not recommend an overnight charge.

The Slice Cordless Design Cutter Machine has a simple interface and easy to read graphics window.  This machine cuts textured card stock, vellum, vinyl acetate and photographs up to .5 mm thick.  You can select from hundreds of high-style images and instantly convert them into die-cuts ranging in size between 1″ and 4″ tall.  Note: Intricate cuts can take a long time–so be patient. The size option gives you great variety to choose from, and 4″ cuts are actually pretty big.

There is a learning curve.  You may have difficulty judging where the machine will actually cut.  A little experimentation on some scraps of paper will help you get familiar and adjusted to where the cutter actually cuts.  One observer has worked with the machine and offers this tip: “First of all, when you “select” a shape, the blade moves into position. Before you start cutting, look at the blade (the base of the Slice is see through) and then decide where to put the paper on the mat (if you have the little mat) or the Slice on the paper (if you have a big mat).”  You can learn from experience here.

As you proceed with your die-cut you will want to add a little extra pressure to the machine.
